"Khloe's Blues" is a poignant creation inspired by a real-life incident involving a student from a local Milwaukee school. The playwright and author, moved by the student's experience of being bullied due to the color of her skin, decided to address the issue through a powerful children's book and play. The narrative, born out of a need to shed light on the impact of bullying and emphasize the significance of Social Emotional Development programs in schools, resonates particularly in the post-COVID-19 era where incidents of colorism and bullying have seen an unfortunate increase.

Raising The Bar has teamed up with Bronzeville Arts Ensemble to raise awareness about the profound impact of bullying in schools and the necessity for comprehensive after-school programming. The allocated funding will be utilized to compensate artists, performers, and facilitate workshops for Raising The Bar, schools, and various youth-serving organizations. This collaboration aims not only to provide young performers with a genuine professional theater experience but also to equip teachers and Youth Development Professionals with valuable tools to support their students. Together, we strive to foster a safer and more inclusive environment for our youth.

Raising The Bar, Inc. has set forth a comprehensive set of goals to address the pressing issue of bullying and promote social emotional development. Our first goal is to host a youth play production in February 2024, accompanied by post-show workshops to engage and educate participants. Goal 2 focuses on conducting workshops that impart insights on the impact of bullying to students, educators, and Youth Development professionals. In Goal 3, the playwright and author of "Khloe's Blues" will personally facilitate workshops at schools and youth-serving development organizations, creating meaningful dialogue around the book's themes. Our fourth goal involves the creation of a dedicated platform where both adults and students who have experienced bullying can share their testimonies, fostering connection and support. Finally, Goal 5 envisions a national tour following a professional reading of "Khloe's Blues."

Your support is integral to achieving these goals and making a positive impact on the community. Generous donations from community members and businesses enable us to continue this vital mission, helping youth and families thrive.
